Commemorative
action figure sets
mark classic trilogy's DVD release
Just
as it did with the first release of the original Star Wars trilogy
on DVD, Hasbro will once again be selling three commemorative
action figure sets (one for each film in the original Star Wars
trilogy) as part of the DVD blitz coming to stores this September.
Star
Wars toy collectors will note that there are no new figures
here. That's right - they are all re-packaged figures that were
previously available to Star Wars action figure collectors.
What is different this time is the packaging - bright boxes
with imagery from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return
of the Jedi.
For
those of you who are shaking your head on this one, do try to
remember that it was the Star Wars action figure that pioneered
the empty box marketing campaign back in 1977 with its "Early
Bird Certificate," which allowed fans to buy now and get
later when figures weren't ready in time for Christmas 1977.
The
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope commemorative DVD action figure
set includes the following figures:
- Darth Vader - 25th Anniversary
- Obi-Wan Kenobi - 25th Anniversary
- Luke Skywalker - Tatooine Encounter
The
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back commemorative DVD
action figure set includes the following figures:
- Han Solo - Bespin Capture
- Chewbacca -Boushh prisoner
- Stormtrooper - Death Star Escape
The
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi commemorative DVD action
figure set includes the following figures:
-Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight

We
at Star Wars Toy Museum are unable to confirm location, pricing
or availability of these special Star Wars DVD commemorative
action figure sets at this time, but previous sets were widely
available as Wal-Mart exclusives for $9.99 apiece.
